India’s PM Narendra Modi has personally directed that the realization of foreign universities entering the education space in India be urgently examined. This is a quite good news for the higher education sector, which is currently suffering from limited supply and the mushrooming of poor quality educational institutions. This will be effective enough to raise the quality of educational institutions in India worthy for studying.
It is well-known fact that many graduates, including those with engineering degrees, are simply unable to find employment as they do not possess the knowledge or the needed skills that make them market-worthy or competitive. If the plans go as decided, collaboration with foreign universities will see the exchange of faculty and students, including credit transfer and consequently impact positively not only on joint research but also on tourism. In a nutshell this has the potential of emerging as a strong public diplomacy tool in foreign affairs by opening its doors to international students and faculties.
And if Narendra Modi’s efforts will come true, he will have great investment in India’s education development thus becoming as a man of vision.
