A big relief to people who were not getting cash at bank and ATMs due to log queues. The government on Thursday allowed dispensing cash of up to Rs 2,000 through debit card swipe at select petrol pumps. So now, you can get cash up to Rs.2000 at the petrol pumps.
The decision was taken after the SBI chief Arundhati Bhattacharya held a meeting with C&MD of Hindustan Petroleum. Director Marketing, IOC, Director-Finance, Bharat Petroleum and senior officials of oil marketing companies.
As of now, this facility is available at 2500 petrol pumps, but soon it will extend to over 20,000 petrol pumps.
It has been decided to start this facility at around 2500 petrol pumps spread across the country including rural areas, where SBI POS machines are provided. The Oil Industry is also in further discussions with SBI and other Banks to extend this facility to over 20,000 petrol pumps gradually, according to the press released by Hindustan Petroleum.
