After Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, filmmaker Karan Johar has joined the ‘Intolerance’ debate. He has spoken out against the most controversial topic of ‘Intolerance’. And he sparked the controversy by calling ‘freedom of expression’ and ‘Democracy’ the biggest joke.
Speaking at the Jaipur Literature festival on Thursday, Karan said, “Revealing in today’s time can land you in jail.”
“It is the tough Country to speak about your personal life,” he added.
Karan further said, “I feel very sad about it because being a public figure, you are expected to kind of helm a certain movement, talk about freedom of expression which is the biggest joke in the world.”
He further called Democracy “the second biggest joke”.
“I am a filmmaker and I feel bound at every level. I feel like there is always some kind of a legal notice awaiting me” he added.
