Amidst the heightening tension between India and Pakistan, the debate over banning Pak artists has divided Bollywood into two parts.  Some are supporting the ban of Pakistan Artists while some other artists like Salman Khan, Mahesh Bhatt, and Karan Johar are protesting against it.

In a TV debate on the same issue, Bollywood veteran actor Om Puri was invited. And in the debate, he has given a statement in support of Pak artists. He thinks banning Pakistani artists is not the right thing. In the beginning of the debate, he was quite calm and was praising PM Modi for conducting surgical strikes. But when he was asked about the ban over the Pakistan artists, he lost his cool and said: “Do you want to turn India and Pakistan into Israel and Palestine. Why are You provoking Muslims for war?”.

And when the anchor mentioned about the soldier martyred in Baramulla, then Om puri ended in a controversial statement. He said “किसने कहा था सेना में जाने के लिए? क्या हमने फोर्स किया था उसे सेना में भर्ती होने के लिए? (Who said him to join the army? Did we forced him to join the army?). And when all the panellists got angry over his statement and they lashed out at him, Om puri eventually walked out of the debate in the middle.

Before walking out of the show, Om Puri stated that 15-20 human suicide bombers should be sent to Pakistan. Then again the panelists lashed out at him for giving such a shameful statement.
