If this is done, Pakistan will be totally destroyed !!

Indus water Treaty is a lifeline for Pakistan. And yesterday, MEA spokesperson Vikas Swaroop hinted at scrapping Indus treaty with Pakistan.

“Any cooperative arrangement requires goodwill and mutual trust on both sides,” he replied to a question at a media.

“For any such treaty to work, it’s important that there must be mutual cooperation and trust between both the sides. It cannot be a one-sided affair,” he said.

Indus water treaty is a water sharing agreement between India and Pakistan for the distribution of water from the Indus water system. The 56-year-old Indus water treaty was signed in the year1960 between Indian Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru and Pakistani president Md Ayub Khan. And as per the treaty, India controls Beas, Ravi, and Sutlej, while Pakistan control Indus, Chenab, and Jhelum.

The assertion came amid calls in India that government should scrap the water distribution pact to mount pressure on Pakistan in the aftermath of audacious Uri terror attack earlier this week.

If India scraps this treaty, it will be a big blow to Pakistan. Ending this treaty will eventually highly affect Pakistan’s economy. Because Pakistan’s economy is heavily dependent on agriculture. And most part of the Pakistan’s agriculture is dependent on Indus water river.
